AW23 campaigns: Marc Jacobs x Kim Kardashian, Hugo, Self-Portrait, Basic.Space

Kim Kardashian is fronting the new Marc Jacobs campaign for AW23 with photos shot by London-based Tyrone Lebon and styled by i-D‘s Editor-in-Chief Alastair McKimm. The colour palette is dramatic with a focus on black and white and the pieces featured are equally dramatic, including corsets, ultra-platforms, a leather skirt and long black gloves. Props include a giant pair of inflatable legs and alphabet-shaped balloons.

The #HUGOYourWay motto from its 2022 brand refresh “takes on new meaning and momentum this season, as yet another dimension of self-expression surges to the forefront of the brand’s narrative with a story rooted in sound and style”.

Hugo

For the AW23 campaign, it “makes moves into the music scene, striking chords of synchronicity between music and fashion while presenting the Hugo community with a new medium of connection and rebellion”. It spotlights artists such as Bella Poarch “and more music mavericks as they showcase their talent and get fans on their feet through the power of performance”. There’s also a Hugo x Bella Poarch collaborative capsule collection in development. Others taking part in the campaign include Chase Hudson, Chiara Hovland, Ashley Moore, Lola Clark and William Ernult who will post content on both IG and TikTok featuring AW23 ombré denim looks.

Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait has released the latest chapter from its AW23 campaign featuring Gigi Hadid. Captured in Paris (also by British Photographer Tyrone Lebon), the new chapter features Gigi surrounded by butterflies, “reflecting on nature and beauty through a series of thoughtful portraits and videos”. Looks revealed in the campaign include a gold sequin crop top and mini skirt, and a white boucle jacket and mini skirt set.

Basic.Space

Basic.Space, a marketplace focused on social commerce for fashion, design, art, and music, has launched its first-ever out of home (OOH) campaign to support its new app. It “aims to flip ‘selling out’ on its head and is a clever play on words to bring attention to the new Basic.Space app and the fact that this once invite-only platform is now open to applications to sell in their marketplace thanks to their new seller listing tool”. Fashion insiders/Basic.Space sellers front the campaign, including Sporty & Rich founder Emily Oberg, streetwear consignor Justin Reed, Mirror Palais founder Marcelo Gai and Basketcase founder and creative director Zach Kinninger.
