TikTok has emerged as one of social media’s biggest competitors. The social media platform has created an online space for rising influencers such as Charli D’amelio and Bella Poarch who are in turn earning thousands. 

Eager to find out how long it would take the average US Citizens to make a TikTokers salary, experts

at Reboot Online compared the estimated earnings of the top 30 TikTok influencers per sponsored post with the average weekly salary of a full-time worker in the US. This was achieved through analysing TikTok influencer rankings established by Socialblade.com and calculating their estimated earnings using Influencer Marketing Hub.com. These earnings were then compared against the average US weekly earning of $1001, as stated by BLS.GOV.

Some key findings include: 

  • The Top 30 Influencers on TikTok earn an average of $43,426 per post!

  • Influencer Charli D’amelio ranks first, making an estimated $104,841 per sponsored TikTok Post. It would take the average working American around 3 years to make the same amount of money!

  • Charli D’amelio earns 146% more than her TikTok competitors!

The mean salary of all of the estimated earnings of the top 30 TikTok influencers was also calculated to be an estimated $43,426 per post, meaning that it would take US Citizens around 43 weeks to earn the equivalent of this. 

Charli D’amelio ranks top of the TikTok influencer list, earning an average of $104,841 per sponsored post on Tiktok. This is 146% higher than the average salary of her main TikTok competitors. With the average US Citizens earning $1001 a week, it would take US citizens 2 years (104 weeks) to earn the equivalent of one of D’amelio’s sponsored posts!

In second place is Khabane Lame, who earns an estimated average of $97,201 per sponsored post on Tiktok. This equates to an average of 1.8 years (97 weeks) for the working US Citizen!

Addison Rae earns an average of $68,560 per sponsored TikTok post. It would take the working US Citizen around 1.3 years (68 weeks) to make the equivalent of these earnings.  

Bella Poarch is in fourth place based on her estimated average earnings of $68,001 per sponsored post. It would still take the average US Citizen around 1.3 years (68 weeks) of full-time work to earn the same amount!

Methodology:

  1. Reboot Online Marketing Ltd. sought to determine how many years the average US Citizen would have to work to accumulate the same monetary income as the most popular TikTok Stars.

  2. In house experts firstly established the “30 top TikTok influencers” through analysing a range of influencer ratings from established sites like  Influencer Rankings by Category of Influence and  Top 50 TikTok users sorted by Followers - Socialblade TikTok Stats | TikTok Statistics, to assemble a list of the top 30 largest TikTok influencers based on follower count and engagement rate. 

  3. TikTok Money Calculator [Influencer Engagement & Earnings Estimator] was utilised to enable Reboot Online Marketing Ltd. to calculate an estimated average salary of the top influencers based solely on TikTok posts and promotions. The top 30 were selected in order to create a more evenly distributed and reliable dataset. 

  4. Usual Weekly Earnings of Wage and Salary Workers Third Quarter 2021 was used to find the average US salary of 2021; this provides a reliable basis for comparison against the salaries of the influencers. 

  5. The “average” influencer salary was calculated by finding the median of the estimated range of salaries that were provided by TikTok Money Calculator [Influencer Engagement & Earnings Estimator]

  6. In order to find out how many weeks it would take the average US Citizens to earn the same as the top TikTok influencers, the “average” influencer salary was divided by the average weekly earnings in the US. The result of this was then divided by 52 (weeks in a year) in order to find out how many years it would approximately take US Citizens to earn the equivalent of the TikTok influencer salary.

  7. All data was collected on 22/11/2021 and is subject to change.

Note: The data was adjusted to omit TikTok influencer ‘Riyaz’, due to a lack of sufficient information.
